Workshops Ford use following special tools at performance of these works:

- Pins for a stretcher 205-316 (15-097А);

- Stripper of the spherical hinge 211-020 (13-006).

Removal of the steering mechanism spend in the following sequence:

- Establish a steering wheel in the position corresponding to movement of the car directly;

- Lift and reliably fix on supports a forward part of the car;

- Remove the lock of ignition and fix a steering wheel.

Models of release to 12.1998 years

Remove a shaft of a steering column with шлицевого a shaft of the steering mechanism, for this purpose ослабьте the moment of an inhaling of the top bolt 1 (fig. 271) and turn away the bottom bolt 3 and shift a collar 2 upwards.

Remove a shaft of a steering column with шлицевого a shaft of the steering mechanism, for this purpose turn away a bolt 1 (fig. 272) and take out шлицевый a shaft from a shaft of a steering column.

All models

Remove both tips of steering draughts as it is described earlier;

- Disconnect racks of the stabilizer of cross-section stability from амортизаторных racks (fig. 273).

Models with engine Endura-DI

Remove engine protection from below the car.

All models

Turn away an average bolt of a support of the engine on a transmission;

- Remove the heat-shielding screen on the steering mechanism;

- Remove a hose clip (fig. 274);

- Remove hoses of the hydraulic booster of a steering from the steering mechanism and merge a following working liquid in pure capacity;

- Prop up by means of a mobile jack a cross-section support of a transmission, turn away fixing bolts and lower a support (fig. 275);

- Pull together consolidation of a shaft and turn away a bolt 2 (fig. 276);

- Turn away bolts of fastening of the steering mechanism and remove it (fig. 277).

Installation of the steering mechanism spend in the following sequence:

- Before to wrap bolts of fastening of the steering mechanism the moment 80 Нм, check up a teflon sealing ring, whether there are no on it damages, and pay attention to correctness of installation of the delivery valve in the case of the steering mechanism;

- Check up the plug of a shaft of the steering mechanism before installation, it should have a thickness from 25 to 30 mm. The bolts connecting steering shaft, tighten the moment 35 Нм;

- Installation finish in sequence, return to removal;

- Add missing quantity of a working liquid and remove air from hydraulic system of the hydraulic booster of a steering.
