On cars Focus the two-planimetric hydraulic brake system consisting of two contours, operating on a diagonal is established. Besides the car is equipped by a lay brake which is put in action by a cable.
At refusal of one of contours another remains capable to brake the car. Efficiency of braking thus decreases, you will notice it on longer brake way, and also on the increased course of a pedal of a brake, thus on a combination of devices at you the lamp of an emergency condition of brake system and inclusion of a lay brake will light up.
On cars disk brakes with ventilated disks, behind — drum-type or disk, depending on a complete set are in front established. On all cars the vacuum amplifier of brakes is established to lower effort to brake pedals.
On the car are established antiblocking brake system (ABS), system of automatic control of size of a twisting moment on shaft of a drive of driving wheels (BTCS), system of electronic distribution of brake forces (EBD), the electronic program of stabilisation of course stability (ESP).

The antiblocking brake system (ABS) is combined with system of electronic distribution of brake forces (EBD), concerns a standard option of brake system of car Focus. EBD uses system of gauges ABS for definition of number of turns of a wheel. During braking system EBD observing of back wheels, allows to increase so brake effort to them that they were braked on border of their blocking and with the maximum force of braking. The system automatically considers a condition of loading in each case and influences size of a brake way. With an interval of regulation to twelve commands in a second ABS corresponds to the advanced technological level. She creates a basis for system of regulation of brake effort on drives of driving wheels (BTCS) and for the electronic program of stabilisation (ESР) which on cars Focus is established by request, since 1999 (fig. 280). System BTCS distributes brake efforts in the field of low turns on separate wheels. At speed from above from 50 km/h the system changes a twisting moment transferred from the engine on each of driving wheels. System ABS on the car is completely diagnosed. Malfunction codes register in the management block. Service centres Ford read out codes by means of diagnostic device FDS-2000.
Regularly check a condition of brake system. Serviceable brakes is the best guarantee of your safety. Do not hesitate to remove from time to time a wheel to check up a condition of brakes and brake disks. And still work connected with brakes is better to transfer in the specialised workshop, having corresponding the special tool.
