The axial backlash of a cranked shaft is exposed by means of half rings of a various thickness. The backlash should be in limits of 0,10-0,20 mm. The backlash by means of the indicator of hour type and a support is measured.

Backlash measurement spend in the following sequence:

- Establish the indicator and its holder on the block of cylinders and prepare for work;

- Move a shaft from one extreme position to another. The difference in indicator indications will make an axial backlash (fig. 154).
